Alterations, Re-purposing & Repairs
Garments are works of art. Designers take weeks; often months to design their pieces. The problem is that more often than not ‘off the rack’ items don’t quite ‘fit’ as everyone’s body is different: a little more here, a little less there.
Trousers and skirts tend to be easy adjustments; but when it comes to adjusting bust size or five layers of a wedding gown it becomes a lot more complicated. Not everyone is able or confident enough to alter expensive designer clothing whether it’s evening wear, prom dresses or wedding gowns.
My attention to detail, fearless approach to alterations, speed due to experience and ease in resolving poor fits means that I am able to see the work that needs to be carried out within moments of seeing a garment on a body. I give accurate quotes and my customers have been known to cry with glee when they see what I’ve achieved.
Customers often refer me to their friends, family and event entourage. I aim to help everyone; including men. Even past employers and associates partners have come to me for their customers’ last minute changes.
Quite often my work doesn’t end there. After a wedding, ball, summer party; etc. I regularly get asked to either:
1. transform a dress to suit a different purpose, often requiring an extensive re-work and even dying; or
2. repair damage; mostly tears and lost beads.
Price list
Beneath is a general price list. Please consider this as a guide whilst bearing in mind that every garment and body is unique…
In order to re-model your wedding dress, there is a free initial consultation. At that time the work to be carried out will be assessed. An alteration price depends on numerous factors; how much has to taken in, how many layers there are and how complicated the dresses construction is. Once the dress has been pinned and assessed a final price can be agreed upon.
Please note these prices are a guide only and may vary greatly depending on the complexity of the garment.
Once again please bear in mind that this price list is approximate and for guidance only.
